The Town of Erie was awarded a Community Investment Grant by EnCana Oil & Gas (USA), Inc. in the amount of $250,000 for the hydronic solar panels at the Erie Community Center. With resource and energy management as one of the Town of Erie Board of Trustees' adopted long-term goals, the town selected hydronic solar collectors as its energy source for pool and domestic water heating. The energy efficient collectors will allow the community center to heat its pool and a large portion of its water with solar energy, reducing its need for traditional energy sources. The project is expected to save approximately $10,500 in energy costs annually. In addition to the solar collectors, the town will install a regenerative media pool filter, which will reduce water consumption needs and pool heating costs at the center. The Town of Erie is currently constructing the 63,000 sq. ft. Erie Community Center set for completion in December 2007.

Board Adopts 2007 Supplemental Budget - The Town of Erie adopted the 2007 Budget on December 12, 2006. At least twice yearly, staff reviews the adopted budget and year-to-date actual expenditures. Based on these reviews, staff requests supplemental appropriations to update the budget to reflect actual revenues and expenditures of the prior and current year, year-to-date Board of Trustee actions, and projected revenues and expenditures
for the remaining fiscal year. The 2007 Supplemental Appropriation Request for May represents staffs conservative and prudent estimates for providing on-going, quality services to customers for 2007. The request includes a balanced operating budget for all funds and staff does not anticipate any negative fund balances. This request does not include funding for the operation of the new Erie Community Center and Parks and Recreation Department. Staff will bring an additional supplemental appropriation to the Board later in the summer for these items.
