Welcome to the Ag-Burbs
Contributed by: DR. SEAN REIF D.C. on 9/25/2006

Some businesses are realizing that rural areas are communicating with BROADBAND, high-speed access, DIGITAL CONNECTIVITY. Rural communities have low-cost land. Their people are generally eager to help a NEW COMPANY settle in. New jobs will stem the great migration of their young people looking for jobs.

Over the next 30 years, people will ESCAPE the overcrowded and expensive suburbs. Smaller towns and new growth cities are looking increasingly MORE ATTRACTIVE. Small cities, especially towns in warm climates with nearby UNIVERSITIES strong in science and engineering, or Agriculture, may be the RISING STARS of the 2000s.

Project Managers, Medical transcriptions, Marketing Managers, and even Attorneys telecommute every day. They are living a HIGH-QUALITY of Life AND operate a successful business "OUT - IN - THE - BOONDOCKS."

Some employers are relocating to the ag-burbs, building factories and taking advantage of improvements in transportation and shipping costs, and TIME, and over-all OPERATING COSTS that a small town can offer. It's a WIN - win situation made possible by TECHNOLOGY, and it is changing the face of corporate America today. These changes will continue long into the FUTURE.

The RURAL PEOPLE are known for their MORALS, especially responsibility, and our WORK ETHIC to help the organization to achieve success because so many grew up on farms. A farm day is long: the work is NEVER FINISHED, and the labor is physical and hard.

Farmers learn that Patience, Persistence, Perseverance, and Perpetuity are key Philosophical Tenants. Companies recognize that our people are willing to move to rural communities to find these roots.

GLOBALIZATION embraces adaptability, new technologies to increase productivity and service prompting companies to base headquarters or satellite operations in small towns.
