June 17 golf tourney to benefit local kids
Contributed by: YourHub.com on 5/26/2005

The "I Have a Dream" Foundation of Boulder County (IHAD) announces its 3rd Annual Golf Tournament. The tournament benefits a select group of low-income children in Lafayette.
IHAD, a school drop-out prevention program for low-income youth, uses academic support programs, long-term mentoring relationships and the guarantee of a tuition-assistance scholarship to help children achieve their dreams.
The tournament will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, June 17 at the Vista Ridge Golf Club in Erie.  The Vista Ridge Golf Club features 232-acre course along with views from Pikes Peak to Longs Peak.  There will be prizes at every hole, as well as vehicle prizes for a hole-in-one on several par-three holes. For the past two years, the event has sold out thanks to the support of community members and businesses. The attendees were impressed by the challenging course, excellent food, delightful clubhouse, and lively spirit. IHAD expects this year's event be just as successful.
"Not only does our golf tournament allow the community members to enjoy a wonderful round of golf," Chief Executive Officer Lori Canova said, "but they also are able to interact with and put a face to the children their money benefits."
Community members can purchase space in a foursome at $250 per person to play in the tournament which includes breakfast and lunch.  Sponsorships are available from a $250 Green Sponsor to a $10,000 Title Sponsor.   For more information, call 303-444-3636 x 15 or visit www.ihadboulder.org.
Major sponsors of the golf tournament include Vista Ridge Golf Club, Community Development Group, and Vectra Bank of Colorado.
About The "I Have a Dream"Foundation of Boulder County.
Since 1990, the "I Have a Dream" Foundation of Boulder County has helped 400 children from low-income areas achieve their education and career goals by providing long-term personal and academic support, tutoring, mentoring and four-year tuition-assistant scholarships to each graduating student.  The organization adopts entire groups of students from elementary schools, or from low-income public housing sites and works with these children and their families through high school. Currently, there are six IHAD classes in Boulder County, in Boulder, Longmont, and Lafayette.
The program doubled expected graduation rates for its first two graduating classes of students, and awards over $90,000 in scholarships each year. The program follows the national model established in New York in 1981 by founder Eugene Lang. Since then, 180 Projects nationwide have helped more than 13,500 students. The "I Have a Dream"(r) Foundation of Boulder County's main office is located at 4990 Pearl East Circle, Suite 302, Boulder, CO 80301.
