Denver, Colo.: Regis University head women's soccer coach J.B. Belzer has announced that four high school seniors have signed with RU to continue their academic and athletic careers. Belzer announced that Jordan Miller, Rosie Campbell, Alli Dandurand, and Kari Taylor signed their National Letter of Intent on the first day that student-athletes can sign.
Miller, a 5-9 forward from Santa Fe, N.M., captained St. Michael's High School to the 2007 New Mexico State Championship. She finished her impressive career with173 career goals and 105 career assists making her the all-time leader in goals and assists in the state of New Mexico. Miller is a five-time first-team all-district selection and named four times district player of the year. She also earned First-Team All-State five times.
Head Coach J.B. Belzer had this to say about Miller, "Jordan has created and scored goals at a prolific rate in her high school career. Her natural athletic ability combined with her demonstrated work ethic will enable her to quickly transition to the demands of college soccer with the potential to be a difference maker within our program for the next four years."
Campbell, a 5-6 goalkeeper from Kansity, Mo., holds the Missouri state record for saves in a game and was voted the Western Regional Goalkeeper of the Year as a junior. As a sophomore and junior she earned first-team all-conference, all-district and All-Western Region honors. During her sophomore campaign she earned all-state honorable mention accolades and was voted first team all-state as a junior. She was also voted most valuable player by her team as a sophomore and junior. She is set to complete her senior season in soccer this spring.
"Rosie brings excellent goalkeeper experience from both her club and high school teams and possesses wonderful athleticism. I expect her to push our returning keepers for playing minutes and the starting role immediately as a freshman," says Belzer.
Dandurand, a 5-1 defender from Overland Park, Kan., was named the 2007 defensive player of the year. She was also a first-team all-metro, all-district, all-western and all-state selection in 2007. Dandurand earned four varsity letters scoring five goals and tallying seven assists her senior season.
Coach Belzer states, "Alli's quickness, speed and composure on the ball will permit her to impact our side very early in her career. Her tenacity in defending coupled with her passing ability will allow Alli opportunities in many positions as she pushes for a starting role within our team."
Taylor, a 5-4 forward from Erie, Colo., was ranked in the top five in scoring in Class 3A, scoring 13 goals and tallying 11 assists in 2007. In three seasons she has scored 27 goals and recorded 21 assists. As a freshman she was named honorable mention all-conference.
"Kari possesses an exceptional combination of athleticism, technique, and mentality as an attacking player. Her psychological strength, competitive drive, and ferocious defending style will be a huge addition to our team and will allow Kari to compete for quality minutes and a starting role as a freshman," remarks twelfth-year head coach J.B. Belzer.
The Rangers finished the 2007 season with a 9-11 record overall and a 5-7 mark in the RMAC. RU advanced to the RMAC Tournament and fell in the first round to eventual RMAC Tournament Champion Fort Lewis, 3-0.
Regis University is a member of NCAA Division II and competes in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC).
