With a combined score of 35.925 on four events at the Colorado State Gymnastics Championship meet March 29 in Colorado Springs, Scottie Fiarkoski of Erie qualified to compete in the USA Gymnastics regional competition in Plano, TX on April 27.
In order to qualify for the trip to Plano, Scottie needed to place in the top ten at Level 8 for her age group. She came in fifth.
Now ten years old, Scottie began participating in gymnastics when she was a toddler. Currently, she trains four days a week at Gymnastics Unlimited in Northglenn to compete in the sport she loves.
"Qualifying in the regional meet in Plano has been my fire in the belly goal all season," proclaimed Scottie. "I'm going for an all around score of 36 or better at regionals."
Regardless of her performance at the regional meet, the road for Scottie ends in Plano for 2008. She won't be eligible for national championships until she competes at Level 9.
