The i9 Sports flag football league in Lafayette concluded its 16-game season last Sunday with beautiful weather and a full slate of exciting games, followed by pizza, snacks, trophies, and medals for all players. The league began playing games in early September at Angevine Middle School. The spring season will commence in late March or early April.
In the 6-7 age division, the Gladiators, coached by Phil DesJardins, and Joe Coleman's Rockets team battled right to the wire for top honors, with the Gladiators finishing just one game ahead with a 12-3-1 record. The Raptors, coached by Brian Powers, made great inroads during the season to keep up with those two potent teams.
The Lobos, coached by Jeff Smith, took early control of the older age division and never let go the entire season, scoring 504 points in the process. The Crushers, led by Joshua Benedict, and the Titans, with Richard Gordon at the helm, contended for the second-place slot, with the Crushers edging ahead.
