Blog Entry 105 of 357 Father Knows... Something. Let's figure out what.
This is my outlet to share with the world all the things I've learned - and continue to learn - about being the Father to 3 young children. But I should warn you that my experience is probably NOT yours: my wife and I adopted a sibling set of 3 - all 6 years old and younger - while in our 40's. We've heard that, "it keeps you young," but so far, it has mostly kept us tired... But like any parent, our kids teach us something new every day and I hope to share at least something here with you as I can. The entries will be short - time constraints will probably keep it at or around a mere 200-400 words - but as they say, brevity is the soul of wit. Let's hope I can create some brevity here. So if you read something you like, please leave a comment. If you read something you don't, please just leave. (Just kidding - I'd love to hear from critics as well.)

It's Always 3 Rings Around Here, Somehow

We've enjoyed another milestone this week. Two if you count, "43 hours without electricity" as a milestone rather than an unfortunate circumstance...

"M's" first ever field trip went off without a hitch; a class trip to the circus - and more importantly, their safe return home - happened exactly as scheduled. But there was a time earlier in the week when it was all in doubt. Due to some continued, errant behavior on my daughter's part, the trip - or at least her share in it - was actually canceled by Mommy as of Wednesday morning of this very week.

This meant that the remainder of Wednesday and all of Thursday was fraught with tension as "M" tried her best to "re-earn" her trip to the circus; she was somewhat hesitant in many of her actions as she calculated whether 'this' would help, or hinder, her chances of going to the circus.

Which is good, actually. Kind of what we're trying to teach her. Of course, if she were just a couple of years older she would have realized that the fix was already in: after a whole week in the house together - much of it without electricity or news from the outside world - Mommy was more than ready to send her to the circus.

Or, another one, that is...

Chris Stone is a slightly different - hopefully better - Father and man than he was yesterday...
