This is a special weekend for our kids; they'll be doing an overnight at Grandma and Grandpa's and we'll be retrieving them late in the afternoon the following day. That means they'll experience nearly 24 hours of full, unrestrained freedom and we'll get an evening to ourselves.
Of course we'll also get to sleep in tomorrow morning and I'll try to finish installing the new kitchen floor without Todfant supervision. Which is a difficult proposition, given the fact that said supervision usually consists of one or both of my boys walking across the ground I've gained in order to give me a hug.
Without that, I'm wondering how I'll finish the job...
But another worry crossed my mind: once I realized I'd said my morning goodbye's before leaving for the office - without giving my standard, "I Won't Be There" speech - I also realized that my kids would be at Grandma's before I'd see them again. This was an invitation to trouble!
Then a sudden, universal truth struck me: there are no misbehaving children at Grandma's house.
Oh sure there are kids who ignore the rules and kids who run riot and kids who cannot be bothered to be polite and even kids who - whether on purpose or by accident - manage to burn the entire house to cinders.
But NO child misbehaves at Grandma's...
