IN 2009, President Obama or President McCain will inherit a budget written in the last year of the Bush administration which contains a
one-half-TRILLION dollar deficit.
One halt a trillion dollars! That's
$500,000,000,000.
Assuming 250 million Americans, we each owe $2,000, for next year alone, above and beyond the taxes we will actually pay. Plus interest, because, of course this 2009 deficit will be financed by borrowing, most likely from our greatest planetary competitor, the People's Republic of China.
All this in ONE SINGLE YEAR. And, ahem, CNN informs me that this figure DOES NOT INCLUDE all the funding for the Iraq war effort.
When I write over and over again that the Two-Party System is bankrupt, I usually mean morally, ethically, and intellectually bankrupt. But clearly, the Two-Party system is fiscally bankrupt.
