According to legislators from Summit County, it appears that the precipitous closure of Lake Dillon Dam Road was an even more foolish act than I suggested in
an earlier blog entry.
The closure, with two (2) days notice to the County and to the Fire Department, was based on a threat assessment from 2006. If the threat was genuine, why wait two years? If the threat was meaningless, why two days?
But of course questions like "How deep was your head planted in a dark place when you took this action?" can't be answered: Claims, often spurious, of National Security form the magic Cloak of Invisibility by which incompetent, venal bureaucrats hide their boobery and malfeasance from the public and the courts.
Idiocy of this sort is the natural byproduct of a two-party system in which national security becomes no more than a slap-stick used by the tragicomedians of the Republican and Democratic parties to bash each other for the entertainment of the masses.
VOTE LIBERTARIAN for real reform of the out-of-control Homeland Security juggernaut.
