Blog Entry 1 of 357 Father Knows... Something. Let's figure out what.
This is my outlet to share with the world all the things I've learned - and continue to learn - about being the Father to 3 young children. But I should warn you that my experience is probably NOT yours: my wife and I adopted a sibling set of 3 - all 6 years old and younger - while in our 40's. We've heard that, "it keeps you young," but so far, it has mostly kept us tired... But like any parent, our kids teach us something new every day and I hope to share at least something here with you as I can. The entries will be short - time constraints will probably keep it at or around a mere 200-400 words - but as they say, brevity is the soul of wit. Let's hope I can create some brevity here. So if you read something you like, please leave a comment. If you read something you don't, please just leave. (Just kidding - I'd love to hear from critics as well.)

Hi there! I'm crazy - who are you?

It's not like I'm drowning in free time around here. Quite the contrary, actually; I'm employed full time, I'm the homeowner of a home that's quickly trying to self-destruct, (if this were an episode of STAR TREK the countdown would already be in the single digits. Then again, that's when things started to turn around, so maybe that's not such a bad thing after all), and I suddenly find myself the father of three young children.
And if you don't think THAT takes just a bit of one's time then you lack both experience AND imagination...
See, it's like this: in mid-August my Wife ("The Wif") and I had three kids invade our home - errr, rather - move in with us. This action took place with the blessing and even the eagerness of certain, credentialed JeffCo employees whose professional responsibilities concerned the welfare of these three kids.
And thus our lives were changed - completely - in the span of an hour and a half. That's how long it took to collect the older two from their foster home in town and then meet the foster parents and our youngest son at the Blackhawk exit and then arrive home.
And even though we knew at the time that our lives would be completely upset - even though we knew things were about to change in ways we thought we could imagine, things have changed around here in ways that are difficult to fathom. And that's what this blog will be about; the arrival of children, the pain of teaching them about the technicalities of adoption and the legal process and the pure joy of watching these beautiful creatures grow up.

Stay tuned. Things are only getting more interesting around here...

Stone is the new Father of 3 young children and the proprietor of Stonestead.com. He is a disciple of Yeshua, but is as fallen as any of the others. He enjoys Sci-Fi, Star Wars and High-Model Monster movies. And he's slowly learning to be a Father to "M", D-Man and Binky Boy. And he hates the "green shirt" photo of himself as much as you do.
