Father Knows... Something. Let's figure out what.
This is my outlet to share with the world all the things I've learned - and continue to learn - about being the Father to 3 young children. But I should warn you that my experience is probably NOT yours: my wife and I are in the process of adopting a sibling set of 3 - all 6 years old and younger - while in our 40's. We've heard that, "it keeps you young," but so far, it has mostly kept us tired... But like any parent, our kids teach us something new every day and I hope to share at least something here with you at that same pace. The entries will be short - time constraints will probably keep it at or around a mere 200 words - but as they say, brevity is the soul of wit. Let's hope I can create some brevity here. So if you read something you like, please leave a comment. If you read something you don't, please just leave. (Just kidding - I'd love to hear from critics as well.)

One of the things I'm noticing
from starting my days of being a Father is that so much of what I do - and have to do - is a double-edged sword. You know the thing; you work so hard towards a certain outcome, only to discover that you encounter a SERIOUS downside once you actually start to see it start to happen. Well, that's what parenthood is like...
Take language, for example. Our oldest two are active speakers - our daughter, at 5 is just putting on the finishing touches of everyday use, and our oldest son, at 2, is just starting to form complex sentences. And each of their flubs are absolutely adorable.
But just as much as we enjoy, "last morning ago," and, "breefasst." "What do you want for breakfast?" "Lunch.", we also recognize our responsibility in teaching the proper use of the language, and we try to do so in a way that won't crush ALL the spirit around here.
Worse yet, Binky Boy is starting to speak single words, but he mostly just growls or grunts at certain things or circumstances. He'll be forming sentences in a few months - which is a good thing - but I sure will miss those growls.
Much in the same way, we were gleefully anticipating Binky Boy's first steps. He had been telegraphing them since October - so we knew they were coming - but we also knew we'd take great pride and joy in seeing him walk. And we do, because he's an absolute champ and getting better every day. But I'd love to see him crawl across the floor at a record pace - AGAIN - to meet me just one more time.
I mean, to watch him crawl out of his footies and see those things flapping around behind him was absolutely priceless...
Chris Stone is a slightly different - hopefully better - Father and man than he was yesterday...
