On Oct. 21, several women donning
frocks,
cardies and such gathered at
Hilltop Inn in Broomfield to enjoy a
smashing baby shower for my friend
Amanda Rodriguez. The theme was tea for two.
Amanda and her husband
Gabe live in Evergreen and are expecting their first
bubtion in December.
Posh co-hostesses
Gretchen Carothers, of Silverthorne,
Lesley Eddington, of Evergreen, and
Sarah Hammer, also of Evergreen, initially planned for the shower to be on the patio. But, in Colorado in October, we can't be
gobsmacked when the weather doesn't cooperate. We would've needed
brollies and
jumpers to survive the chilly, windy weather, so into the
Wildflowers Tea Room we went.
With
brill surroundings, we had a
natter and enjoyed some
brew and
sterlingnosh including
sarnies, fruitand cake.
And since we were
jammy enough to not be at a shower overwrought with the
codswallop of shower games, we focused our efforts on the task of writing advice and well-wishes on cards for the expecting parents.
Continuing in the
craic, it was gift-opening time. Amanda received, among many presents, two baby slings, bottle organizer, clothes and a
diaper cake.
And then it was time to say our
cheerios.
Unless she loses her
bottle, Amanda plans to give natural delivery a whirl. Hopefully, with very little pain and
grizzling,
Bob's your uncle, the baby will arrive happy and healthy.
My thanks to
Chris Rae and his English-to-American Dictionary for helping me share my experience. His site's not a dog's dinner at all.
