Blog Entry 137 of 190 From the mountains to 6th Avenue
Many Evergreeners commute. It's been described as a commuter community. Accurate. So there is an etiquette to commuting. The first rule: Leave early. Even if you depart for a 9 to five job at 6:30 a.m., you will not be alone. If you like being alone on the highway, go to Montana. The second rule: Leave early If you don't get off til 5 p.m., take a book on tape, because you will be sitting in traffic near Federal and 6th, and entertainment of any kind is helpful. There are polite drivers, like me, who let others sneak in, especially in merge lanes. I try. You probably do too. The one thing I have decided that will not happen to me is that I will not be mangled in a car wreck on 6th Avenue or I-70 in either direction. What do you do to keep this promise to yourself?

A perfect wedding
Contributed by: Karen Groves/YourHub.com   on 6/19/2007

Weddings are fun. They're wonderful. This one very special.

My baby married his high school sweetheart at the Callahan House in Longmont and it was a gorgeous evening. With a cellist and violinist playing classical selections chosen by Damon and Val, the ceremony was officiated by Fred Echohawk of Longmont.

Damon's brother was the best man and Valerie's sister the maid of honor.
The garden surrounding us all was fragrant with roses, lush ground cover and the historic house was an oasis surrounded by mature evergreens and hardwoods in the historic district of Longmont.

I was too busy having fun and being a mom and hostess to take many pictures. I left that to the professional.

As parents of the groom, my husband and I hosted the wedding party rehearsal dinner at The Boulder Cork.

We met there with everyone a couple hours after a rehearsal at the elegant Callahan House.

We stayed at the Radisson Boulder Longmont, which was way too hot and they had run out of coffee on Sunday morning.

But these are nothings.
