Blog Entry 178 of 189 From the mountains to 6th Avenue
Many Evergreeners commute. It's been described as a commuter community. Accurate. So there is an etiquette to commuting. The first rule: Leave early. Even if you depart for a 9 to five job at 6:30 a.m., you will not be alone. If you like being alone on the highway, go to Montana. The second rule: Leave early If you don't get off til 5 p.m., take a book on tape, because you will be sitting in traffic near Federal and 6th, and entertainment of any kind is helpful. There are polite drivers, like me, who let others sneak in, especially in merge lanes. I try. You probably do too. The one thing I have decided that will not happen to me is that I will not be mangled in a car wreck on 6th Avenue or I-70 in either direction. What do you do to keep this promise to yourself?

Walgreens coming soon, but not too soon
Contributed by: YourHub.com   on 2/15/2008

The Walgreens under construction on Colorado 74 at Bryant Drive in Evergreen posts a sign that says "Coming Soon - Walgreens"
visit www.walgreens.com

But I wonder if the sign should say Coming Soon . . . but not too soon.

YourHub.com stopped by to see what was happening Feb. 14.

The listing for store locations on the Web site doesn't include the Evergreen store, which makes sense because it's not ready. Instead it lists the closest one being in Golden.

The sign behind the office trailer in back said JB Olsen Construction and that's who Mike works for. Mike is the superintendent on the job.

His trailer office was draped with papers and rolled up architects' plans and he was pouring over one that had the lighting schematics plotted out.

He said, "It's all up in the air when we'll finish. We're being stalled by wind, snow."

"My goal is to have asphalt down soon. We are plugging away I was hoping to be done by the end of February." he said.

There was only one worker I could see on the site.

The concrete building will be 15,400 square feet.

Look for more updates here.

I am a lucky neighbor of the new Walgreens. Many big pieces of construction debris have blown out to the commercial lot in front of my home. I wonder if Mike will pick it all up in his spare time. Lauren Gardiner

One cannot help wondering if problems exist that are not being revealed, Karen, or properly handled. Sure, weather can be a factor. But, is it a surprise during Colorado winter? Thanks for keeping us posted.
