Blotter blog: Man threatens with samurai sword
Contributed by: YourHub.com   on 8/19/2008

Blotter item of the week for August 20:

MARTIAL ARTIST ATTACKS NEIGHBORS WITH SWORD
Two Glendale men, age 21 and 30, got a rude awakening the morning of Aug. 6. Police responded to residences on the 1000 block of South Dahlia Street at 5:28 a.m. on a report of a fight in progress. They met with the two men who told them the suspect, a 43-year-old Glendale man, had banged on their windows earlier that morning. When the two went to the door, the man reportedly held a samurai sword to the throat of the 30-year-old man. His roommate was reportedly able to push the blade aside and confront the suspect, who left without saying a word. The suspect returned, this time armed with a butcher knife and a meat cleaver, and reportedly told the 21-year-old man to pick one. After a tense standoff, the suspect reportedly left once more. Police gained entry to his apartment with a key from the head of maintenance and found the suspect inside. According to reports the man refused to show his hands and was brought down by police and shocked with a TASER for five seconds. Police found the reported samurai sword and knives in the suspect's apartment. Police said when the suspect was taken to Glendale Police Department for processing, he registered a BAC of .160.
