This year is my fifth time on the ballot for public office.
In 1994 I started as Don Quixote tilting at the War on Drugs. I was on the Democratic primary ballot for Congress (CD 6). Someday I'll write a book of all the tricks the Dem leadership tried to derail my campaign, the tricks failing one after another quite humorously. I scored 40% on the primary ballot and that was that for 1994.
In 1998 the Democrats actually nominated me to run for Colorado House District 62, which then extended from Broomfield to Breckenridge. I ran against the late Bryan Sullivant, who was always courteous, friendly, devious, and gentle against the amateur, and I miss him. I scored 40% in 1998, though higher in Gilpin, where I arrived on time for a forum while Rep. Sullivant arrived late due to receiving a Gilpin traffic ticket on the way for speeding!
In 2004, I ran for US CD 6 again, but this time as the Libertarian candidate, and debated Rep. Tancredo on Aaron Harber's show. They asked us when the US would be out of Iraq. I said, "Not in our lifetimes. Welcome to Empire."
In 2006, I ran for US CD 6 AGAIN as the Libertarian candidate, and debated Rep. Tancredo on Aaron Harber's show. They asked us when the US would be out of Iraq. I said, "Not in our lifetimes. Welcome to Empire."
Now in 2008 I am the L. candidate for Colorado House District 25. I am taking no money, none at all, zero (0) $$$. I'm just speaking anywhere invited and ranting on the Web.
Electoral Politics is awful. I've done a great deal of it and this is the form I have reduced it to so I can stomach it. Invite me to speak, and I'll show up. Other than that, chat with you here.
