Description: The hairstylists at TallGrass Aveda Spa and Salon, 997 Upper Bear Creek Road, Evergreen, are hosting a Cut-a-thon on Sunday, February 28, to benefit Starfish One by One (StarfishOnebyOne.org), a nonprofit organization that provides educational scholarships to rural Mayan children.

By appointment only, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., participants may make a $50 donation and receive a consultation, haircut, styling and paraffin dip. All guests at the spa on that day - whether participating in the Cut-a-thon or otherwise - are encouraged to make a donation.

Connie Ning, Starfish One by One organizer, will be at the Cut-a-thon to talk about the organization's work assisting with the short-term economic and nutritional needs of families who otherwise could not afford to send their children to school beyond the sixth grade. Just $250 sends a child to school for a year and the first graduating class is about to be honored.
