Description:
Audubon Meeting November 5th: Birding in Hungary
David Balogh will present a few highlights of three days of birding in Hungary. This was a short excursion tagged onto a business trip to Belarus in the Spring of 2008. Having no experience with birding in Europe, David at times felt the frustration of a neophyte birder as new species seem to pop out of every bush and tree in sight. Some birds, like mallards and white egrets are the same as we have here, and others are very nearly the same, so their identification rebuilt his confidence. With the help of an excellent guide, 90 species were identified on day trips from Budapest north to Danube Bend and south to grasslands and fish ponds in the Kiskunság. The program will concentrate on a few of the species including the fascinating Great Bustard.
Guests are welcome. Refreshments and a business meeting will follow.
