The League of Women Voters of Jefferson County braved the elements Saturday, August 26th to participate in "Lakewood on Parade". This was a celebration of the 30-year anniversary of the city of Lakewood. A LWV 2006 Citizenship Award winner, Jeremy Montano joined League members passing out balloons encouraging citizens to get out and vote. The rain stopped just prior to parade time so a fun time was had by all!
The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan organization, encourages the informed and active participation on government and influences public policy through education and advocacy. Nonpartisan means we neither support nor oppose candidates at any level of government, but are always working on issues that concern our members and the community.
