RRCC 'Gets on the Bus' with Microsoft

Microsoft is "road tripping" across the country and making a stop at Red Rocks Community College (RRCC) on May 7 to promote new resources to help IT techs, developers, and database administrators get-and keep-a job in technology. The stop is part of an 11-day odyssey beginning in Atlanta and ending in Los Angeles at the Tech-Ed 2009 conference.

RRCC and the Microsoft Career Express learning team will host a three-hour (8-11 a.m.) Microsoft study break at the college including a continental breakfast, games, and prizes. Presentations by Microsoft experts will feature tips and tricks for Developer, DBA, and Server 2008 certification tracks. Microsoft experts will share their insights and knowledge of the hottest topics in these programs. As part of the promotion, Microsoft held a contest to select a student to receive a free trip to Tech-Ed 2009. The Denver winner will be revealed prior to the event.

Since 2000, RRCC has been a Microsoft IT Academy, offering certifications and AAS degree programs for Microsoft system administrators and engineers, Microsoft Visual Studio developers, and Microsoft SQL Server database administrators and developers. RRCC offers courses using MS Visual Studio, SQL and Server 2008 products. By utilizing the latest technologies and providing current certification tracks, RRCC is preparing students for new job opportunities and helping those in the field update and enhance their skills. In addition to partnering with Microsoft, RRCC is also a CISCO Academy, Oracle Academy, and Adobe higher education partner.

The RRCC Computer Technology Department will begin teaching the new MS Server 2008 certification track during summer semester, which begins June 1. Students can also enroll in MS C# and SQL Server 2008 Database Administrator courses. To apply and enroll, visit www.rrcc.edu or call 303-914-6600. For more information on specific technology programs, contact the computer technology department at 303-914-6430.

Since 1969, Red Rocks Community College has delivered quality education to students of all ages and backgrounds. RRCC offers more than 300 programs leading to two-year degrees or professional certificates and serves over 14,000 students per year at campus locations in Lakewood and Arvada.
