Award-winning Western artists such as
Brenn Hill,
Kip Calahan,
Bill Barwick,
Jon Chandler,
Karin Mari and Pony Express thrilled those who attended the first-ever Conifer Tales and Trails on Sept. 8, to benefit the Mountain Area Land Trust. Cowboy poets
Rex Rideout and
Royce Hodge -- both of equal calibre to the talented singers -- complemented the lineup.
Three concerts were held at Conifer High School and an Old West Festival was held simultaneously at Diamond Sky Ranch.
The Mountain Area Land Trust works to preserve open lands and natural areas of significant environmental, scenic, or historic value in Jefferson, Clear Creek, and Park counties. It has facilitated the protection of 11,000 acres to date and has another 7,000 acres "in the works" along the 285 Corridor.
