Although day-glo signs were posted at the entrance to Evergreen Lake warning "Skate the Lake Canceled," the last day of 2006 offered plenty of sunshine.
The main activity at the lake was ice fishing instead of the usual ice skating. Families, friends and pets walked around the lake during the afternoon of Dec. 31
The children are one of three sets of twins in Ms. Powell's first-grade class at King Murphy Elementary School in Clear Creek County. The Jacksons left their dog McCloud at home, but commented that the dog is a Karelian Bear dog, a breed that Jackson said, "protects families in Finland from bears."
