Reitan bridal shower a hit

Laurel Anderson-Jackson, Donna Mullins and I hosted a bridal shower for Serena Reitan Aug. 19 at Laurel's home in Evergreen. With help from Laurel's daughter, Britt, we managed to set several tables and put out a tasty buffet lunch for guests.

Chicken salad, pasta salad with shrimp, a green salad and different breads made for a good spread. For dessert, Laurel's black and white brownies were heavenly chocolately rich, and Karen admitted that making the lime pecan bars as a test run a few weeks back, helped her master the recipe so they tasted great. Donna's nutty bars were perhaps a little healthier, so I chose all for my dessert plate.

Serena opened gifts from guests who were there, and from some who couldn't make it from Nebraska, where her parents were raised.

The mother of the bride to be, Pam Reitan welcomed members of Tom Young's family, including sister Katie, his mother Candy, cousin
Amanda Evans and Aunt Ginni Evans.

Serena got everything from kitchen utensils to CSU stadium chairs, to mini blenders and bar glasses.

The wedding will take place in Breckenridge Sept. 3. The bride and groom will reside in Fort Collins.
