Coloradoans can enjoy good food for a great cause

Dining Out For Life® Served up in Denver

One-day event expected to raise $380,000 for Project Angel Heart

Denver, CO -
Stand up against HIV/AIDS by sitting down at one of your favorite restaurants on Thursday, April 30, for Dining Out for Life® day! This one-day event benefits Project Angel Heart, a local non-profit that prepares nutritious, home-delivered meals, free of charge, to men, women and children coping with life-threatening illness. More than 335 restaurants in the Denver-metro area and Boulder will donate 25% of their food sales to Project Angel Heart on Dining Out for Life® day. The event is expected to inspire 80,000 diners to eat out on April 30.

"Dining Out for Life® is a great opportunity for people to make a difference in the life of someone battling illness by doing something they enjoy- eating out," says Erin Pulling, Executive Director of Project Angel Heart. "In light of the current economy, it's also a great way to patronize local restaurants while supporting a great cause," said Pulling.

This year, restaurants such as Root Down, Caveau Wine Bar, and D-Bar Desserts will join a long list of Dining Out for Life® favorites including Anthony's Pizza & Pasta, Racine's, Casa Alvarez and Avenue Grill. Project Angel Heart is hoping to raise $380,000 from Dining Out for Life® - nearly a quarter of their annual budget.

"Each week I volunteer at Project Angel Heart, I am inspired by the dedication and compassion put into preparing each meal," says Fred Brockmeyer, volunteer delivery driver for Project Angel Heart. Fred is also a Dining Out for Life® Ambassador at Club 404, which raised the most funds of all restaurants donating in 2008. Now in his 15 th year with the program, Fred still feels the same rewarding joy in volunteering that he felt in his first year with Project Angel Heart. "It's a wonderful to be able to deliver meals every week to people who might not eat. I wouldn't miss my volunteer shift for the world," said Fred.

In addition to eating out for a great cause, diners are eligible to enter a drawing to win $1000, thanks to TCF Bank.
