EvergreenNature Center, which offers free exhibits and information about our localenvironment in the old warming house at Evergreen Lake, is seeking volunteervisitor assistants.
Visitorassistants greet visitors and are available to answer questions and provideaccess to information about plants and animals in the Bear Creek Watershed.
Volunteersdo not have to be extremely knowledgeable about nature, but an ability to workwith people and a willingness to learn are necessary. Training for the positionis provided one-on-one or in small groups.
Visitorassistants are asked to commit to a minimum of two three-hour shifts per monthduring the Nature Center season May through October.
VAseither open or close the Nature Center and are responsible for somerecord-keeping and for selling items in the small gift shop. Mostly, they helpvisitors enjoy our natural world and learn a little something about how to takecare of it.
Visitorassistants also sign up people who call or come in to register for the freeprograms and classes offered through the Nature Center.
NatureCenter hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. Volunteer shiftsare 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 1 to 4 p.m.
