STORY TIME JUST GOT A LOT MORE INTERACTIVE...

EXPLORE DENVER STORY TREK FOR FREE THIS SUMMER

Families throughout the metro area are invited to explore the city this summer for free with Denver Story Trek.

"People often wonder about the stories behind the places they pass," Annie Levinsky, Deputy Director of Historic Denver said. "With this new program, you can explore the stories behind Denver's historic landscapes and landmarks on an interactive, self-guided tour that can be taken at your own pace. It's a free and fun way to get outside by walking, biking or cruising around the city!"

NEW INTERACTIVE DENVER STORY TREK WEBSITE LAUNCHES JUNE 24, 2009

A new interactive Denver Story Trek website has been launched and new signs have been erected throughout Denver neighborhoods marking Denver Story Trek sites. People will find them along Denver's parks and parkways, in residential neighborhoods and in the city core where there remains a "visual record" of Denver's history. Families who stop outside "Story Sites" learn about the residents who shaped Denver's places and through the course of their lives put Denver on the map. Dozens of local sites are on Denver Story Trek including five featured museums: Story Site # 6:Molly Brown House Museum, Site #19: Black America West Museum, Site #8: Byers-Evans House Museum, Site #15 Kirkland Museum of Fine & Decorative Art and Site #1:Four Mile Historic Park.

TO EXPLORE DENVER STORY TREK FOLLOW THREE EASY STEPS:

1) Select from dozens of Story Sites and featured Treks or build an individual trek at www.denverstorytrek.org; 2) Bike, walk or drive to the Story Sites on the selected Trek, (museums, homes, parks and other landmarks) and 3) Once at the Story Site, simply dial 303-562-2407 on your cell phone or visit www.denverstorytrek.orgto download audio files and listen to a free story.

"Story Trek is a great way for families to get outside together," Denver Mom Pam Myers said. "My kids love that you can bike or walk to a site, take a break and listen to a story before getting back on the bike or walking to the next site. Our whole family gets exercise and we learn something new in a fun and interesting way."
