The 2007 9Health Fair hosted by Mt. Evans Hospice will be held April 18, 19, and 20 from 7 to 9:30 a.m. each day at the Evergreen Elks Lodge, 27972 Iris Drive, in Evergreen.
The fair will once again provide the basic blood chemistry test and prostate specific antigen (PSA) test for men over 40. In addition, the Mt. Evans Hospice site will now offer a blood count screening, which checks white blood cells, hemoglobin concentration, hematocrit value, and platelet count.
Costs are $30 for the blood chemistry analysis and an additional $25 for the optional prostate cancer (PSA) test and $15 for the optional blood count screening. The PSA and blood count screenings may be done alone or in combination with the blood chemistry analysis. Colorectal Home Kits will also be available for $5.
The blood chemistry test, for adults only, consists of a 31-component blood chemistry analysis, with a cardiac risk profile including cholesterol, triglycerides, high-density lipoprotein (HDL), and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) screening.
Participants desiring this analysis must fast for 12 hours prior to the blood draw. Black coffee and plain tea (no cream or sugar) is allowed, and drinking a lot of water is encouraged.
All prescribed medications should be taken, and
diabetics should not fast. Payment should be in cash or by personal check, as credit cards are not accepted. Additional screenings of blood pressure, vision, and hearing are offered at no charge. For more information, call Mt. Evans Hospice at 303-674-6400.
