Empty Bowls Mountain Project: November 4 - November 11, 2009

"Bowl-dacious, Beautiful Bowls" will be waiting hungry guests who attend Mountain Resource Center's first Empty Bowls Mountain Bowls Project to be held in Conifer at the Center, located at 11030 Kitty Drive, on Veteran's Day, Wednesday, November 11. The fundraiser is sponsored by FirstBank, Morning Star Jewelers, Katie and Joe Dix, Clinical Data Management, IREA, Mountain Connection and Score foothills.

The goal is to raise money to support mountain area families within our community and to increase awareness hunger in our community. The Center's long standing event "All That Glitters" will not be held this year due sensitivity to these difficult economic times.

There are two ways in which you can lend a hand to our neighbors in need:
1) Attend the Empty Bowls Mountain Project Luncheon and Supper at Mountain Resource Center on Wednesday, November 11, 2009. Lunch begins at 11:00 am to 2:00 pm and Supper begins at 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm. For a minimum tax deductible donation of $25, guests will choose from a selection of soups, breads and desserts donated by local restaurants and caterers. In exchange for your donation, guests will pick from bowls donated by local artisans, children and students. Central to the event is the idea of a simple meal of soup and bread. The bowls are to be taken home as a reminder that someone's bowl is always empty. All proceeds from ticket sales will go directly to providing food and support services for at-risk mountain residents.

2) Visit one of the participating area restaurants during the week of November 4 - November 11, 2009 at anytime and a portion of soup sales will go towards supporting hunger and support services within our community. Currently participating restaurants include: Aspen Peak Cellars, Aspen Specialty Foods & Catering, Creekside Cellars, Da Kind Soups, Fiesta Jalisco, Raven's, Sweet Fanny Adams, and The Bistro at Marshdale. These companies have donated financially or in-kind to make our event a success!

Mountain Resource Center, a registered 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization, was established in 1992 and is centrally located in Conifer, Colorado.
