Dot asked
Tim Murray
, traffic operations engineer with the Department of Highways and Transportation division in Jefferson County about this intersection in North Evergreen.
"Unfortunately people don't realize if they are making a left turn, they must yield to through traffic," he said.
He mentioned two other intersections farther south along Colorado 74 that had left-turn red arrow signals installed: one at Stage Coach Boulevard and the other at Lewis Ridge Road. Both were as a result of fatalities at the intersections.
Murray said "People can make requests online. If there is enough citizen concern someone will be assigned to look at it," Murray said.
He said minimizing crashes is something the county takes into consideration, but warned they only handle roads in unincorporated Jefferson County.
For information, call 303-271-8495 and ask for information about a traffic signal, or to fill out a service request form go

Master Trooper Ryan Sullivan said the Colorado State Patrol uses mile marker segments as points of reference when calculating traffic accidents. The area in question is considered to be Mile Marker 1.5, where in 2007 there were nine accidents.
In the 2.2 mile stretch between this intersection and Interstate 70 there are at least four in memory of signs.
