Dot asked
Tim Murray, traffic operations engineer with the Department of Highways and Transportation division in Jefferson County about this intersection in North Evergreen.
He said there was a left-turn red arrow signal at the intersection of Bergen Parkway and the Bergen Marketplace/Bergen Village parking lots four or five years ago. "It was discontinued because there was no heavy left-turn movement off Bergen Parkway and it caused a delay for the rest of the intersection."
"Unfortunately people don't realize if they are making a left turn, they must yield to through traffic," he said.
He mentioned two other intersections farther south along Colorado 74 that had left-turn red arrow signals installed: one at Stage Coach Boulevard and the other at Lewis Ridge Road. Both were as a result of fatalities the intersections.
Murray said "People can make requests online. If there is enough citizen concern someone will be assigned to look at it," Murray said.
He said minimizing crashes is something the county takes into consideration, but warned they only handle roads in unincorporated Jefferson County.
