Seniors' Resource Center has announced the election of
Robert Wallace (FACHE), an Administrator of Outreach Services for St. Anthony Hospitals, as its new member of its board of directors.
John Zabawa, President/CEO of Seniors' Resource Center, said, "It is gratifying that Mr. Wallace, with such a diverse background in the health care and aging services fields, will help lead our organization in innovative ways to meet the new challenges posed by Colorado's coming demographic age wave."
Formed in 1978, Seniors' Resource Center, a private non-profit organization, is a community partner providing person-focused, coordinated services to enhance independence, dignity and quality of life. In 2008, the agency provided direct services to nearly 18,000 individuals across ten counties. This included intensive transportation, adult day and respite care, in-home care, mental health outreach, job training and care navigation services
Mr. Wallace holds a B.A. from St. Leo University in Florida and a Masters in Health Administration from Washington University in St. Louis. In his current position, he is working on the replacement facility for the current St. Anthony Central Hospital, and overseeing business development and relationships with rural facilities as far East as Goodland, Kan. and as far South as Pagosa Springs.
"I look forward to the opportunity to meld my years of health care management with the vision of the center by providing another link to the constellation of services the center can bring to our older adults," said Mr. Wallace.
Prior to joining St. Anthony, Mr. Wallace spent almost 20 years in Chicago working for a large Catholic Hospital. His background there included hospital operations as well as responsibilities for a for-profit subsidiary that owned and operated physician office buildings and urgent care centers.
"We are thrilled that Mr. Wallace decided to lend us his considerable talents on the board of directors," said
Kathleen Stapleton, board chairman. "He has impressive leadership records that will play instrumental roles in helping Seniors' Resource Center find new opportunities in non-profit service."
Over the years, Mr. Wallace has worked closely with the Colorado Rural Health Resource Center and currently sits on the Colorado Health and Hospitals Rural Health Council. He spent four years as a member of the board of directors of Platte Valley Medical Center in Brighton and served over four years as a district board member with the Evergreen Fire Protection District.
A member of the Medical Group Management Association and active Rotarian, Mr. Wallace became interested in the health care field after serving as a Hospital Corpsman with the U.S. Marines.
As the state's age 60+ population climbs from 780,000 in the year 2009 to 1.3 million by year 2020, Seniors' Resource Center continues to pride itself on meeting the needs of older adults from a wide variety of socioeconomic backgrounds. It does so through concerted outreach to low-income, frail, minority and isolated seniors and their families, based out of five homelike facilities in metro Denver and the foothills.
