On Dec. 6, Youth Leadership Jefferson County held Education Day. The day began at Red Rocks Community College. Alice Potter lead the students in exercises including True Colors and Leadership Styles. These exercises helped the students to learn their personality type. Cindy Stevenson, Superintendent of Jefferson County Schools, also spoke to the students about leadership and the importance of education in reaching one's goals. The students were given the opportunity to ask questions to her and other members of the JeffersonCounty school districts.
The students enjoyed Chinese food for lunch which was provided by Warren Tech culinary students. The class returned to Red Rocks Community College and talked to the Colorado Leadership Alliance, a leadership development organization. The students divided into five groups and participated in a scavenger hunt across the Red Rocks Community College campus. Kathryn Gaasvig spoke to the class about planning for college and future careers.
The day was fun and exciting for the class of Youth Leadership Jefferson County. The students learned about developing their leadership skills and the skills of others. The students enjoyed the day, and we are looking forward to next month's class.
