Seven women from the Denver area have just returned from a Vision Trip to Romania. Their organization, Colorado Women of Vision, is a local chapter of World Vision, the largest Christian relief organization in the world. The trip to Romania allowed them to visit some of the projects they sponsor under the auspices of World Vision Romania (WVR).
The group included
Jeanie Hunter,
Linda Smith,
and
Marcia Osteroos
of Evergreen,
Eunice Bollinger
of Morrison,
Judy Wonning
of Lakewood,
Carol Overgaard
of Littleton, and
Idella Kercher
of Denver.
During their visit, the team was able to see several projects with which they have been involved, including Children with Disabilities, which is helping with early intervention, Children of Romania, for children who are at risk, and the Youth in Transition program, aimed at young people who are coming out of orphanages in need of skills and jobs. The team sponsored a weekend retreat for the teens called "Choices, Consequences, and Courage", which touched the hearts of all of the participants.
The ladies visited Bucharest, Craiova, Sibiu, and Cluj while they were in Romania. Romania is making great progress now that it has joined the EU. However, there is still a huge gap between the cities and the rural areas, which are 50-75 years behind the times. There is still much to be done.
The Colorado Women of Vision organization has 101 partners and raises about $100,000 per year for projects. They have raised over $1 million since their inception. To learn more about this organization and the upcoming "Boot Scootin' Boogie" on August 15 featuring the band, "Colorado Storm", go to: coloradowomenofvision.org.
