There's less than four weeks left of school and every kid in town is busy making their summer plans! As your family begins to make its Summer plans, make sure your calendar includes JUNE 14 and the Family Fire Muster!
West Metro Fire Rescue's Family Fire Muster gives you time to invest (FOR FREE!) in your family's safety through learning, practicing and playing! The event runs 9:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. at Red Rocks Community College (address) in Lakewood.
Through more than a dozen hands-on activities, children get to not only have fun but also practice skills that could save their lives. Activities include:
· Tools Not Toys: A life-sized puzzle for preschoolers to show they know the difference between tools (matches and lighters) and toys!
· Practice 9-1-1: A phone simulator with REAL emergency dispatchers. Your child dials 911 and reports an emergency!
· Teddy Bear Clinic: Kids get to learn and perform basic first aid techniques on stuffed animals.
· Bunker Gear Relay: Kids dress up like a fire fighter and practice their Stop, Drop, and Roll technique.
· Bike Rodeo: Kids learn to fit their helmets and obey the rules of the road on a tricycle safety course.
· Big Rig Tour: A chance for kids to jump into the trucks and see the emergency vehicles from the inside out.
· Safe Escape: Kids practice escaping a smoke-filled room and climbing out of a window in an emergency escape.
· Hose Practice: Kids use real fire hoses to practice putting out "flame" targets.
· Main Stage & Life Safety Sing Along: Interactive entertainment teaches safety lessons through music and movement.
Visitors to the Family Fire Muster will find live musical entertainment, free giveaways and prizes, characters, including Spot the Dog, Smokey Bear, Red Robin and much more. Lunch, drinks, and t-shirts are available for a nominal fee. Join the fun on June 14! For the safety of our participants, pets are not allowed at the event!
