Drive Smart and Evergreen Chamber 'Split' the Fairway for the Evergreen Open on June 16

When Drive Smart Evergreen/Conifer and the Evergreen Chamber of Commerce first planned to join forces for the Evergreen Open, we knew it was a hole in one decision. Pairing community based organizations and a business together, for fundraising opportunities, are socially responsible and fits into the mission of both organizations. It allows us the opportunity to give community members something fun to do for their money with a trickle down affect that benefits the whole community. And who better to lead this new trend in fundraising than the Evergreen Chamber of Commerce and Drive Smart Evergreen/Conifer for the 2008 Evergreen Open golf tournament to be held on Monday, June 16 th, at 7:30 a.m. at Hiwan Golf Club.
Drive Smart Evergreen/Conifer is a 501(c) 3 non-profit whose mission includes promoting driver and passenger education in part by building alliances with local businesses and organizations. You may be familiar with some of our programs such as Child Passenger Safety, Buckle Bear, or Click It Or Ticket. Chances are someone you know has been affected by a Drive Smart program here or there. The Evergreen Chamber has successfully been supporting the Evergreen community and its visitors by profitably connecting their member businesses and the community. And Drive Smart ought to know. The Chamber has been promoting local nonprofits, including Drive Smart for years.
Merging with Drive Smart, an Evergreen Chamber member since 1995, is a clear business decision for the Chamber and Drive Smart for many reasons. This allows the Chamber to continue to promote local non-profits in the community, a task that has been near and dear to the Chamber and its members since its inception over 40 years ago. This also allows the responsibilities to be split, taking some of the burden off of both Drive Smart and the Chamber. Both groups knew it might be a challenge, but it certainly allows both organizations the opportunity to share their mission with a broader demographic and by partnering together, provide one less fundraising event during the year. The bottom line, however, is two great organizations working together to drive the green. Pun not intended.
Golfers and sponsors are still welcome! For more information about this event, please visit
