Conifer Rotary golf challenge to raise funds
Contributed by: Mike Daniels on 6/9/2008

Everyone's thinking "Green" these days and more than 90 golfers will be giving some of their "green" to step on to the "greens" at the Red Rocks Country Club on June 23 for the 10th annual Conifer Rotary Cup Challenge golf tournament to benefit our mountain community.

The premier sponsor of this year's Rotary Cup Challenge is Mutual of Omaha Bank with a donation of $10,000 of "green" and there's a shoot-out for a chance to win a $1.3 Million Condo sponsored by Summit Companies which I'm told is "Built Green", kinda, sorta!

Over the years the Conifer Rotary Club's fundraising efforts such as the annual Rotary Cup Challenge has helped to provide $50,000 toward development and operation of the Mountain Resource Center, $10,000 toward support of the Mountain Peace Shelter (formerly the Park County Crisis Center), $20,000 for Conifer High School's sports field scoreboard, lighting and fencing and $20,000 pledged to support construction of the StageDoor Theater.

In addition, the Conifer Rotary club is involved in leadership training for junior and senior high school students, promoting and recognizing ethics in 285 Corridor businesses, supporting Continental Divide Trail maintenance and development projects, recognizing local outstanding student achievement, participating in the Adopt-A-Highway program to keep sections clean in the Conifer area, and helps support annual events such as the Mountain Resource Center's 5 K Run, Mt. Evans Hospice Freedom Run, Conifer Christmas Parade, Salvation Army Bell Ringers and Read-To-Me programs in local elementary schools to name a few.

Funds received also help international projects that the Conifer Rotary club has been involved with matching dollars from Rotary International for water sanitation projects in India, health education and clean water projects in Africa, economic development projects in Belize and Polio eradication on a worldwide basis.

There's still time to register to have fun, win prizes and support your community and your world for just $125 per player in this 4 Player Best Ball Scramble. The registration fee includes green fees, golf bag valet service, cart, awards ceremony and lunch buffet. Player application deadline is June 16 so if you've yet to register contact Conifer Rotary's Golf Tournament Chair, Larry Fitzsimons at 303 838-3070 or larry.fitzsimons@mutualofomahabank.com ASAP!

And whether or not you play golf you can still contribute to the success of this annual community fundraiser by becoming a sponsor at different levels which provide various promotional dividends.

Sponsorship levels are: Gold-$5000, Silver-$2500, Bronze-$1000, Elite-$700 which includes a Tournament Foursome Registration and Premium-$100 which includes a Hole Sign. If you'd like to learn more about sponsoring the Conifer Rotary Cup Challenge at some level contact Larry Fitzsimons.

This year's Cup Challenge has been in the making for many months and has been spearheaded by tournament chair Larry Fitzsimons. Other Conifer Rotary Golf Tournament committee members who have given of their time and talents to make this year's tournament a success include Ed Steinbrecher,Dennis Schavietello, Max Anderson,Dick Bryant,Bill Patterson, Cliff Bowran, Matt Matson, Barry Schroeder, Arnold Agre and Dan Imming
