Girl Scouts honor Mt. Evans Hospice
On 4/28/2008

Evergreen Girl Scout Troop 1356 has named the staff of Mt. Evans Hospice and Home Health Care its 2008 "Hometown Heroes," honoring them "for making our community a better place to live."

Six troop members and their leaders, Cynthia Thye and Ruth Garvey, recently presented their "Heroes" with a plaque and a bountiful collection of cookies donated for the purpose by caring cookie customers.

The "Hometown Heroes" program has been part of the Girl Scout cookie campaign since 2000. Each participating troop picks an organization to give cookies to. Cookie buyers enjoy their part in the program, which allows them to support their local Girl Scout troop and a worthy organization while avoiding an overabundance of cookies at home.
