Moore named new director Center for the Arts
Contributed by: Kimberly Moore on 3/6/2007

The Evergreen Arts Council, which operates the Evergreen Arts Center as one of it projects, has renamed itself and the arts center: Center for the Arts-Evergreen, effective immediately. The council will continue to promote all forms of arts in the greater Evergreen mountain area, with the arts center as its major project.

"This organization has evolved steadily over the years. The arts center is now three years old and has become a noteworthy accomplishment that everyone can see and be part of. It makes sense for us to join the council and center under one name," commented Center for the Arts - Evergreen board of directors president Ruth Morehouse.

Kimberly Moore has been installed as executive director of the Center for the Arts - Evergreen, and she will oversee all activities of the center as well as the arts council functions. "Our mission is 'to cultivate artistic excellence and enrich the arts experience in our mountain community,'" she said. "We look forward to not only providing quality shows and education in our center, but focusing on enriching the art experience throughout Evergreen. We have planned many wonderful events that include the art galleries and small businesses in Evergreen," Moore continued.

One of Moore's goals is to cultivate the talent of the youth in the community. "This is another long-term project on which we can partner with other organizations to succeed," she said.

The Center for the Arts-Evergreen plans to continue to support and create synergism among all the arts organizations in the mountain area. In that regard, the center is happy to work with and support the downtown businesses and galleries for events such as "Paint Sculpt Shoot Evergreen, a Multi Media Plein Air Event" which happens in the Fall.

The center will also continue to provide a community calendar and roundtable events for all of the arts organizations. They will also promote and cultivate excellence in the visual arts and will continue to move toward bringing a home for the visual arts to the mountain community. "I also look forward to giving the community access to and participation in creating and observing art, and educating the community in high quality art and traveling shows of works they normally would not be able to see. " Moore said. "It is a very exciting time to be a part of this organization"

The center is located next to the Buchanan Park Recreation Center, 32003B Ellingwood Trail, and is open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and noon to 5:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Kimberly Moore is the executive director of the Center for the Arts - Evergreen.
