Locals and Weekenders Converge on Evergreen Nature Center
Evergreen, CO, July 13, 2008 - Since it's opening May 10, (Mother's day weekend) the Evergreen Nature Center has hosted over 6400 visitors and program participants.
Exceeding expectations, local Evergreen residents and Denver Metro visitors have quickly discovered the newly opened Evergreen Nature Center housed in the historical warming hut on Evergreen Lake.
After 44 open days, the Nature Center has opened it's Gift Shop for business. Gifts of nature books, Wild Republic "squeaky" birds, exclusive Evergreen Nature Center T-shirts and more can be purchased. Proceeds support the Nature Center.
The Nature Center enjoys a talented volunteer corps to who host the Nature Center, provide fun and educational programs and provide help with behind the scenes operations. Friendly and talented individuals are encouraged to contact the Nature Center as many volunteer opportunities are still available.
As a project of The Evergreen Naturalist Audubon Society, the long sought Evergreen Nature Center Summer hours are from Wednesday through Sunday 10am to 4pm. Locals and visitors alike can register for nature programs from birds to bugs, weeds to water use, and stargazing to flower identification.
Visit the Nature Center to learn about living with Mountain Lions, discover if Armadillo's really do live in Colorado, build a pet rock with your child in the Craft Corner, experience Evergreen Lake's natural environment and discover why Moon Sand is a big hit with visitors.
The Evergreen Nature Center is a 501c(3) nonprofit organization and relies upon donations and grants. The Evergreen Nature Center seeks to improve the understanding of Evergreen Lake's natural environments and to enhance enjoyment of the Lake through experiential education.
