Sheriff's blotter: Gas theft on Bryant Drive


GAS THEFT ON BRYANT DRIVE
On March 28 at 5:25 p.m., a deputy went to Okay Auto Repair at 30466 Bryant Drve in Evergreen, where the owner said gasoline and personal items had been stolen from two vehicles belonging to his customers. He said the Chevy K3500 belonged to Lam Tree Landscaping. He thought sometime between the March 22 and March 24 an unknown person stole gas from the truck that had been parked in the driveway west of the repair shop.. It looked like someone had cut one of the filler tubes to the fuel tank. The second vehicle was a 1990 Ford Ranger that belonged to a man who lives in Indiana. The Indiana resident had picked up his truck and departed to Indiana, but called the shop after noticing his camera, duffel bag and backpack were missing. The repair shop owner had no suspects. The deputy said extra patrol would be added to the area.

GUN OK, POT NOT
On March 28 at 8:19 p.m., a deputy stopped a driver near U.S. 285 and County Road 73 in Conifer because the license plate was not properly illuminated. The driver said, "Sir, I don't have a driver's license." He told the deputy his license had been revoked for a DUI. After the deputy observed empty shotgun shells in the center console, he asked the driver if there were any weapons in the vehicle. The man said, "I have a loaded handgun sitting next to me on the floor." The deputy had the man step out of the car and patted him down. When asked if he had any other weapons, the driver said, "No, just some weed and a pipe in my pocket." The deputy removed the handgun which was loaded with 12 rounds. A check revealed no offenses with the gun, so it was returned to the man in a plastic bag unloaded. The man was issued a summons for traffic violation and possession of marijuana. The car was towed.

FIRING BB GUN FROM MOVING VEHICLE A NO NO
A deputy was dispatched to U.S. 285 and Double Header Ranch Road in Morrison on a report of shots fired from one vehicle to another at 1:55 a.m. March 29. The 43-year-old man reporting the incident said the suspect vehicle was a Dodge Neon. The deputy caught up with the male driverof the Neonand stopped him at mile marker 241 The driver said another vehicle tried to run him off the road so he got out his BB gun, pumped it about 20 times and shot out the front passenger window of the truck as it passed him. He was arrested for firingthe BB gun from his car toward another moving vehicle. He said, "I wouldn't have done it if he didn't try forcing me off the road. I don't know why I always do stupid things."

EXPIRED PLATES NET SUMMONS
On March 28 at 5:20 p.m., a deputy stopped a vehicle with expired plates on U.S. 285 in Conifer near Wagon Trail Road. A check showed the car registration expired in August 2007. The driver said, "I know why you stopped me, it's for my plates. I/m trying to sell the vehicle." The man did not have a driver's licensd or proof of registration dur to an unpaid ticket. He was issued a summons for traffic violation and his truck was towed.
