Jeffco Sheriff blotter: Car wires cut at camp

Jefferson County Sheriff's Office

CAR WIRES CUT AT GENEVA GLEN
On June 20 at 5:31 p.m. a 22-year-old employee of the Geneva Glen Camp at 5793 Santa Clara Road in Indian Hills told a deputy he parked his Toyota Camry in the staff parking lot at 9:30 a.m. June 6. When he went to the vehicle to get his iPod on June 16 the interior fuse box cover was lying on the driver's side floorboard. He retrieved his iPod and thought he locked the car. On June 19 at 6 p.m., when he went to drive his car it was dead. The deputy found several wires cut and frayed under the hood. He dusted for prints and obtained two partial prints from the upper window on the drivers' door. The man said he didn't have any enemies and nothing was taken from inside the vehicle.

DRIVER FILLS TANK WITHOUT PAYING
On June 18 at 7:23 a.m. a deputy was dispatched to the Shell Oil Gas station at 3645 Evergreen Parkway on a gas theft. The vehicle was described as a brown Dodge truck. The 62-year-old employee said she saw the truck come in and the driver asked to pay for gas inside after filling up. She authorized it expecting him to come inside and pay, but he drove away. She ran outside, wrote down the license plate number and a citizen followed the vehicle as far as County Road 65. The woman said she did not want to pursue charges. While the deputy was en route to County Road 65, dispatched advised him the driver returned and paid for the gas.

NO REGISTRATION, INSURANCE
A deputy conducted a traffic stop June 19 at 8:22 a.m. after a New York license plate showed it expired in September 2007. The 21-year-old driver said his driver's license was suspended and he had no insurance or registration for the red Subaru. He said it was his ex-girlfriend's car, which she gave to him when she moved to New York. The man was given a summons for no insurance, registration or driver's license and the vehicle was towed.
