Each year in Colorado, more than 11,000 children are abused and neglected. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Jefferson and Gilpin Counties is recruiting community members to become trained court advocates for children involved in child abuse and neglect cases . CASAvolunteers are ordinary citizens who have a passion for protecting children. Volunteers are appointed by a judge to a case of child abuse and neglect after they have gone through training and have been sworn into the courts. They are caring adults who get to know the children and provide the courts with objective information and recommendations to help ensure that the children's best interests are served.Many CASA's have full-time jobs and/or families, yet they have made time to become a child's voice in court.

In Jefferson and Gilpin Counties, the CASA program is steadily growing but there is a strong need for more volunteer seeing as we are only able to serve about 17% of the cases that come into the system. This means that there are still many kids who could potentially fall through the cracks of the system without that extra set of eyes on them. Your time of 10-15 hours a month will give the abused and neglected children in our community a more hopeful future. Right now there's a child in your community who needs your help!
