Ever wonder what it would be like to live in the opulent era of the Great Gatsby? Find out by making reservations now to attend a Speakeasy Cocktail Party beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 23, 2006 at the Molly Brown House Museum.
Speakeasy establishments, surrounded by jazz music and the underground thrill of the Prohibition era, were common hangouts for those seeking a thrill. Recapture this spirit of freedom and be entertained by characters from the past as you enjoy the glamour of the Roaring 20s during this exciting Saturday night event.
The Molly Brown House Museum Speakeasy Cocktail Party will feature 1920s style cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, jazz and tours of the Museum's Roaring Twenties exhibit.
Margaret Tobin Brown, heroine of the "Titanic," was an active part of the Roaring Twenties. She lived in New York, performed on stage and even ran for the US Senate. Winning the right to vote in 1920, women bobbed their hair, shortened their dresses, headed to the office and enjoyed the night life created by an underground network of speakeasy bars. Cities were bursting with activity created by modern conveniences like the car, the skyscraper and the motion picture.
The
Roaring Twenties exhibit at the Molly Brown House Museum recreates this opulent era in the Brown's historic home, presenting the fashions and conventions of the day. Art deco furniture and dcor, reproduction photographs as well as stylish handbags, jewelry, short dresses, suits and hats are on display while liquor bottles, jazz music, and photographs highlight the nightlife of the era.
Reserve tickets now for the Speakeasy Cocktail Party on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2006 beginning at 6:30 p.m. Tickets cost just $45.00 and include the exhibit. Reservations can be made by calling 303-892-4092 ext. 16 or visiting
