Sigh. I looked out my front window this morning at 8:45 to see flashing lights and the noise of sirens. ANOTHER accident at Stagecoach and Hiway 74.
I wasn't going to write about this, but it happened close to another incident I had noted several days ago.
Question: when the Traffic Signal Device is inoperative, how are you supposed to treat the intersection controlled by that Signal Device?
As a blinking YELLOW LIGHT ( Barrel through that intersection) ?
As a blinking RED LIGHT ( A FOUR WAY STOP, Then proceed with caution ) ?
The power went out a few days ago. So did the lights at Stagecoach and 74. Since I couldn't do anything with the server I was rebuilding ( note to Excel, your outage cost a motherboard & cpu ), I decided to watch that intersection.
20% of the drivers DID NOT STOP AT THAT INTERSECTION!!! That works out to 1 in 5 that DOESN'T CARE ABOUT THE RULES OF THE ROAD and YOUR LIFE!!
COMMERCIAL DRIVERS were also in that mix of people that did not stop!
The power was out for about an hour ( The new motto for Excel: Power worth waiting for... ) and I could finally relax.
Driving is a PRIVILEGE, not a right. Someone's life is much more important than cutting corners and multitasking when you are driving...so SLOW DOWN, PAY ATTENTION AND FOLLOW THE RULES OF THE ROAD WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING. The life you save may be yours or some wildlife.
