Our border collie had her first litter, a miracle itself, but she had a surprise for us. Skeeter went into labor on a Monday and delivered two perfect and beautiful puppies that night. She's a natural mother and took to caring for them immediately!
We were thrilled! We wanted to keep one of the pups and now had to decide between a black/white female and a red/white male. Lucky us! So, as we got to know the pups for the next few days, we fell in love with both of them...and then Wednesday night came...
In the middle of the night, the pups were crying and Skeeter was ignoring them; not like our natural mother, so I was worried. I ran downstairs to see why she was ignoring them, and there, in the box, was a third pup! TWO DAYS LATER! The little fighter was already cleaned up and fighting his way to mother's milk! What a surprise!
We had our vet over in the morning and she said "it happens" occassionally! We couldn't believe it, but now,eight weeks later, the three pups have grown and even the little late guy is big and healthy and playful! What a surprise!
The black/white girl has already joined her new family and the two red/white boys are exploring something new every day - we're keeping one, but if you want the other red/white boy - let me know:) Check out the photos - too cute.
