Canines face stiff competition
Contributed by: Karen Groves YourHub.com on 7/4/2005

There were some jitters, some pacing backstage, and forgotten lines. But all in all, the competition was tough and the entrants eager at the July 2 "Ameri-canine Idol" auditions for "singing" roles in the Evergreen Players' upcoming summer musical farce, "Lucky Stiff." The open-call audition introduced dogs with an interest in a prime speaking, rather, barking part. The four-legged show offs were encouraged to put their best bark forward. Agents, aka, owners, were alternately nervous and cheerful. Held in the Chow Down parking lot in Evergreen, the judges were ready to make cuts, but found it difficult because of the talent that appeared on the paw-sized stage.
