Eagles fly on wings of Muscatello's perfect game

Ben Muscatello threw a perfect game April 20 to lead the West Jeff Eagles to an 11-0 victory over the Green Mountain Rams. Ben, a hard throwing 8-year-old right-hander, did not allow a single base runner as his 9-year-old Level 1 team improved to 2-1 on the season.

Muscatello was masterful throughout, throwing just 13 balls out of his 49 pitches. Making the feat even more impressive was the fact that Ben struck out all twelve hitters he faced. He reached a three ball count on just one batter, and came back to strike him out swinging in the final inning.

Ben's teammates gave him a comfortable cushion to work with, busting out for six first inning runs. The Eagles added a pair in the second and three more in the third for the final margin.

Dante Tamez,John Betsch and Matt Aceto drove in two runs apiece for the Eagles, while Jack Hudd and Tristan Gilbert knocked in one each. Adam Babb scored twice, Taylor Gray scored once and had a terrific game at catcher. Every player in the lineup reached base at least once, including walks by Tommy Murphy, Lenny Urbas and Ryan Wilson.
