i9 Sports Flag Football celebrates season's end
Contributed by: Bill Stahl on 6/19/2008

The i9 Sports spring flag football season in Conifer wrapped up with many exciting tournament games. As it had been all spring, the weather was a bit spotty, with windy conditions at Conifer High School. The league completed its nine-week season last weekend, concluding with trophies, medals, Anthony's Pizza, and other snacks for all participants. The divisions were named after characters from the movie Narnia, in honor of i9 Sports' partnership with the new Disney film.

In the Reepicheeps (ages 6-8) Division, the Wizards, coached by Bil Hawkins, claimed the title with a 62-36 win over the David Leek's Mustangs team. The Tigers, led by Todd Wagner, took the other game in the division, beating the Bruins, with Jason Clarke at the helm, 20-12. The Aslans (ages 9-13) Division crown went to the Terrors, coached by Steve Kim and David Leek, over Pete Bell's Grizzlies, while Rocco Canonica's Predators downed the Hawks, coached by Lynn Ferry, 40-18.

In addition, more than a dozen very cute youth cheerleaders helped entertain the fans and spurred the flag football players to achieve more on the field. During the season, Conifer High School cheer coach Tehra Porterfield taught the girls to dance, cheer, tumble, and build pyramids. They also enjoyed snacks and received trophies and medals on the last day.

The i9 Sports fall flag football season and cheerleading program in Conifer will commence on Sept. 7. For more information, please call 303-462-1520 or go to www.i9sports.com
