Stop and feel the wind

Stop and Feel The Wind

When was the last time that you stopped and really felt the wind against your face? Why is it so difficult for us to take a pause in our life and appreciate the things around us? You have heard the saying, "It is like a breath of fresh air." I now really understand what that means. It is amazing what stopping and taking a pause from life can do for your day.

I was taking a walk one hectic morning on the trail near my house. My mind was full of all the things that I had to do and I was worrying about the details of my day and how I could do everything just right. All of a sudden a soft puff of wind hit my face and actually stopped me in my tracks on the trail... I took a minute and breathed in the air and looked around me. I was surrounded by beauty; a sunny day, mountains, green trees and a soft cool breeze. It was then that I realized I had taken a pause from all the chatter going on in my mind and felt a calmness and peacefulness come over me. I knew that everything was going to be o.k., and that all I could do was my best and let the chips fall where they may. Life was too short and beautiful to worry so much about everything.

I stood there asking myself why I could not do that during the course of a hectic day. How could I incorporate that calmness created by stopping to feel the wind into my daily life? Marian Baker in her book Wake Up Inspired, talks about how the world can seem like it is in "fast forward" and how we all need to take a "time out" and hit the pause button. We all have times when the stresses of life take us over and we need to hit that pause button to take a breath of fresh air, feel the wind and re-energize. So many times we jump out of bed and begin running around thinking of all the things we need to do. Our mind is going a mile a minute and our stress level is already beginning to rise. Maybe, first thing in the morning is the time to take and pause and relax, before jumping into the day. For you, it may be taking a break when you feel that anxiousness creep into your body.

With a coach, you can work to identify when you need to take that pause during your day. What are the signs that you need that break? What triggers the anxiousness? Together, you can create a method that helps you take the pause and relax and enjoy life once again. Identifying that you need to take a "pause" is half the battle! Once you have identified the triggers and the feeling that comes over you, you can begin to stop and feel the wind. So, get out there and hit that pause button, take a break and bring some peace into your hectic day!
